body sculpting is removal of excessive body fat that is resistant to dieting and exercising in people who are maintaining a constant body weight; it is not a replacement for dieting or exercising.
The following areas of the body can be taken up for sculpting: face, double chin, arms, male chest enlargement due to fat, abdomen, love handles, buttocks, back, and thighs. Fat is stored in cells called adipocytes

 

 

Fat is energy, derived from food we eat it is either stored in the adipocytes or is burnt to provide calories, when we eat more and spend less it gets stored in the fat cells and when we diet and exercise it is drawn out from the cells to provide calories. The end point of body sculpting is to destroy the fat cells, which are permanent so that there is no place for fat to accumulate as long as constant body weight is maintained by dieting and exercising.

 

Body sculpting involves removing fat or at times skin laxity which develops after losing weight. Hence fat is removed by laser lipolysis or vaser liposelection in our clinic. Or by abdominoplasty, brachioplasty, thigh lifts, to get the abdomen, arm and thigh into shape whenever there is a problem of lax muscles and skin to deal with Plasty surgeries require hospitalization where as laser lipolysis and vaser do not require hospitalization.

Vaser-liposelection
Vaser liposelection is a third generation power assisted liposuction device, it uses ultrasonic waves to selectively break up the fat cells leaving other tissues like blood vessels, nerves and muscles relatively intact.
Vaser is gentle and powerful at the same time. Vaser is done under tumescent local anaesthesia, it uses ultrasonic waves to selectively break up fat cells, after this a small suction tume is used to suck the fat out.

There is no pain felt during the procedure,and there may be a dull aching pain felt which can be controlled with analgesics post  procedure.

How does vaser help:
With vaser, fat deposits are broken up before suction is applied, this reduces trauma to surrounding tissues and allows large amount of fat to be sucked out. The reduced trauma results in less pain, swelling and bruising post procedure compared to traditional liposuction, and there is better skin tightening compared to traditional liposuction.

Areas that can be treated include:
Male breast enlargement due to fat

This area can be treated well with vaser, once the fat is sucked out the skin retracts well and there is seldom any loose skin seen after vaser.

 

 

 

Loose  skin under the arms is another area which bothers a lot of female clients nowadays this area contains a bit of aft but there is lot of skin laxity seen, vaser helps in removing fat and tightening skin, with the aim being to cause adhesion of the skin to the deeper layers.

 

 

 

Saddle bags are deposits of aft seen on the sides of the thighs and is common area among ladies we treat in our clinic,this responds well to vaser

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The abdomen and love handles also respond well to vaser.

 

 

 

 

 

How safe is Vaser
By doing smaller areas and using tumescent anaesthesia vaser is a safe procedure, being a part of international union of lipoplasty and being affiliated to American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, we have been trained to perform what is termed as safe liposuction, we have utilized this experience to do safe vaser accordingly.

Smart Lipo
Smartlipo is a minimally invasive technique for removing localized subcutaneous fats. The Smartlipo's laser bursts the membranes of the fat cells when it comes into contact with it. A fiber-optic laser delivers this laser under the skin. Fat cells rupture and the oily sludge comes out of the fat cells ,this can be left behind or sucked out as well. Traditional laser lipolysis or smart lipo done involves destroying the fat cells with laser, then sucking out the liquefied fat-called lysate to hasten the process of fat clearance from the body, this in our opinion gives better results. However in areas like double chin, or small areas of fat like small abdomen, male chest enlargement we prefer not to suck out the fat.

Once a laser is used to destroy the fat cells, the liquefied fat comes out of the cell, if this is not sucked out it gets cleared through the liver and eliminated from the body naturally, akin to dieting and exercising. We also prefer to use smart lipo for axillary hyperhidrosis in place of botox.

The advantages of smart lipo are
• Minimal downtime
• Patients can go back to routine activities with a days rest.
• There is not much pain felt after the procedure and patients can take a pain killer for a few days if required.
• The results are evident after the internal healing takes place over a period of days to 2 months, the laser promotes better skin tightening due to collagen production under the skin.
• A compression garment is advised in areas where there is skin laxity to improve skin tightening after the procedure.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Abdominoplasty more commonly known as a ‘Tummy Tuck" is a small surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall. The best candidates for abdominoplasty are men or women who have large fat deposits or loose abdominal skin that won’t respond to diet or exercise, women due to multiple childbirths have lost the tone of abdominal muscles, and skin beyond a point that it cannot be tightened by exercising, or elderly patients who have lost skin tone due to slight obesity.
Abdominoplasty requires a horizontal incision above the bikini line, the skin and fatty layer is dissected of the muscular layer of the abdomen, the lax muscles in the center are then approximated with prolene stitches, the excess of skin and fat is then excised and the  skin margins are the stitched back, after repositioning the umbilicus.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If fat deposits and loose skin are limited to the area below the umbilicus, a  ‘mini-tuck’ Can be done, where in the repair is limited to below the umbilicus only. Abdominoplasty surgery is performed in hospital under a general anaesthetic and will involve a stay of 1 - 2 days in hospital.
Mini tucks can take a days hospitilisation.
The operation usually takes between 1-2 hours. Most commonly the surgeon makes a long incision from hipbone to hipbone just above the pubic area. With minor abdominoplasty the incision is much shorter and the navel may not be moved. A wedge of skin and fat is removed and the underlying abdominal muscles are tightened and stitched into their new position. After surgery, staplers will be removed from around 16 days later, and generally a support garment is worn. If you are planning to lose a lot of weight or to have future pregnancies, then surgery should be postponed until goal weight is achieved or your family is complete.
Many abdominoplasties are performed successfully each year. When performed by a qualified cosmetic surgeon who is trained in body contouring, the results achieved can be very pleasing. Many patients are delighted in the improvement in their appearance and self confidence.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Arm sculpting-brachioplasty
When the laxity in the arm is way too much to be corrected by vaser/ laser lipolysis a brachioplasty surgery helps.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

How is this done?
This procedure is done under general anaesthesia, incision length and pattern depend on the amount and location of excess skin to be removed, as well as the best judgment of your plastic surgeon.
Incisions are generally placed on the inside of the arm or on the back of the arm, depending on the surgeon’s preference, and may extend from the underarm (axilla) to just above the elbow. If fat is to be reduced during your arm lift, it will be excised or treated with liposuction.

 

Depending on your specific conditions, incisions may be more limited. Then, underlying supportive tissue is tightened and reshaped with internal sutures. Finally, the skin is smoothed over the new contour of your arm.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Closing the incisions
Your incisions will be closed with absorbable sutures and staplers.
The smoother, tighter contours that result from brachioplasty are apparent almost immediately following your procedure, although initial results will be somewhat obscured by swelling and bruising. Your new, shapely and toned upper arm is dramatically improved both in appearance and feel.

Depending on your current anatomy and where the excess skin and fat is located, you may require an inner groin incision for inner thigh lift, or, and outer groin incision for outer thigh lift.

Inner Thigh Lift
an inner thigh lift targets the inner thigh, and it helps to eliminate loose skin and fat from this area that is resistant to dieting and exercising, During an inner thigh lift, an incision is made at the junction of the thigh and pubic area. A wedge of skin, and possibly fat, is then removed and the skin is tightened to provide an improved leg contour and enhanced skin elasticity.

Bilateral Thigh Lift
The bilateral thigh lift procedure is designed to tighten skin on the front and outside of the leg. a bilateral thigh lift, involves making an incision at the top of the leg where the lower edge of a bikini bottom or pair of underwear would be. A certain amount of lax skin is then removed, before the surgeon pulls the remaining skin up and attaches it to the same area. In this way, a bilateral thigh lift serves to tighten skin along both the right and left side of the leg. This procedure is especially helpful to those who have excess skin after an extreme weight loss.

Buttock implants
The buttocks is one part of the body that is difficult to shape up naturally by exercising,hence for one looking to increase the size of the buttocks or make it look more rounded, implants are one option that is available. A two to three inch incision is made between the buttocks in the midline. The buttock muscle (gluteus maximus) is lifted up and a pocket is made just large enough for the implant. The implant is inserted into its pocket. The opposite side is then completed. Both sides are carefully examined in order to assure that the results look natural and symmetric The incisions are then close by using fine, dissolving sutures .

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The buttocks is one part of the body that cannot always be made to look better in regards to being rounded, more shapely or more sculpted by way of dietary habits or exercise. That is where buttock implants come in. Be aware that buttock implant surgery carries all of the same risks as other forms of surgery, be they cosmetic or otherwise. Buttock implant surgery is done on an outpatient basis and is performed under general anesthesia, which means that the patient will be asleep while the procedure is being performed. In our clinic we do not prefer to use fat for buttock augmentation as we feel fat is not a good filler, asymmetrical looks is very common when fat is used, so using implants is definitely a better option. This procedure requires a day's hospitilisation.
